The City Environment Administration has overall responsibility for the city's public spaces and overall accessibility.

We work to create accessible, attractive, and vibrant urban environments and natural areas. The administration owns and manages the tram network in Gothenburg. Approximately 900 people work at the administration.

The City Environment Administration is part of the urban development administrations in Gothenburg City. Job Responsibilities

The position is within the machine and events unit where the work mainly consists of machine operation. The operation involves street cleaning machines on the city's streets, squares, stops, parks, parking lots, and schools. The unit has both smaller and larger machines, which requires you to have a driver's license and authorization for trucks.

As a street cleaner, your main tasks are cleaning and weed control of the city's streets, squares, stops, parks, playgrounds, and recycling stations. This includes regular rounds with emptying trash bins and picking up litter, cleaning around recycling stations, as well as cleaning during the many summer events in the city. You will have a map to help you find destinations. As a street cleaner, you will be visible in the city, and many visitors in Gothenburg may turn to you with tourist-related questions. This means you will be the face of the City Environment Administration and represent Gothenburg City on the streets and squares during the season. The work takes place in central Gothenburg and surrounding areas, and you will use a somewhat larger vehicle.

We are looking for 2 seasonal workers for the period from 2026-04-01 to 2026-11-30.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has completed high school education. For the position of street cleaner/machine operator, it is required that you have a driver's license B, C, and YKB, and you should also have knowledge of basic maintenance of your machine. Previous experience with street cleaning machines is an advantage. You need to have good driving experience and be comfortable operating vehicles in both central parts of Gothenburg and in tight spaces. You must be meticulous, have good teamwork skills, and be able to independently take responsibility for your tasks. You have a good attitude and care about ensuring that Gothenburg residents and visitors have a pleasant experience. Previous work experience in similar positions is highly meritorious.

You must have a good command of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form. You also need to manage digital channels as you will be using various apps.

Being on call during the winter season is a requirement and is included in the position.
